Sooner or later, almost every woman and also a large number of men suffer from broken veins. In this early stage, broken veins do not cause any pain. They can be removed for cosmetic reasons. The origin of broken veins lies in weak venous walls, which can rapidly progress and affect ever larger vessels. Without effective treatment or medical therapy, varication and even ulcers of the lower leg (ulcus cruris) can result.

Of course, there are many people with broken veins which will not deteriorate.There are two kinds of venous diseases: those which can and those which can’t be treated. Any treatment of broken veins should be preceded by a phlebological analysis with an ultra sound Doppler. If no severe disease of the large veins can be diagnosed during a phlebological analysis, treatment can be carried out with the HARMONY long-pulse Nd-YAG laser and the HARMONY vascular 540 nm pulsed light applicator. The procedure is a selective absorption and coagulation of chromophores (hemoglobin/oxy-deoxy, denaturated red blood cells and endothelial cells). The cell residues are removed by means of phagocytosis. The HARMONY applicators for the treatment of vascular lesions show excellent results in the following benign vascular lesions: Port wine stains – teleangiectasia – hemangioma – rosacea – poikiloderma of civatte.
