- Broken veins
broken veins are enlargements of fine venous vessels located directly under the skin surface. Sooner or later, almost every woman and also a large number of men suffer from broken veins. In this early stage, broken veins do not cause any pain. They can be removed for cosmetic reasons. The origin of broken veins lies in weak venous walls, which can rapidly progress and affect ever larger vessels. Without effective treatment or medical therapy, varication and even ulcers of the lower leg (ulcus cruris) can result. Of course, there are many people with broken veins, where no further deterioration will occur. There are two kinds of venous diseases: those which can and those which can’t be treated. Any treatment of broken veins should be preceded by a phlebological analysis using an ultra sound Doppler. Photos and more information on broken veins can be found via the navigation panel on the left
