Stretch marks (striae) are subcutaneous tears. The most common locations are stomach and hips, but also the chest. In the early stage, stretch marks are bluish-red, later on they are yellowy-white. Stretch marks look like scars.
Stretch marks can result from periods of hormone turbulence (puberty, pregnancy, hormone diseases, hormone therapy) or from mechanical strain on the skin during fast and excessive weight increase. Particularly women with weak tissue can suffer from stretch marks during pregnancy. Stretch marks are scars. They can’t be removed but they can be rejuvenated, smoothed in with the surrounding tissue and their red colour can be diminished.
